Lagos state - The minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has intervened in the case of female passenger, Comfort Emmanson, who allegedly assaulted officials of Ibom Air.
Legit.ng recalls that Emmanson was arrested, arraigned and remanded at the Kirikiri Maximum Prison in Lagos after the video of her assaulting Ibom Air staff went viral.

The federal government through the minister of Aviation, Keyamo has taken three steps in favour of Emmanson.
In a statement shared via his X handle @fkeyamo, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, made the following pronouncement:

3 actions taken in favour of Ibom Air passenger
1. Ibom Airline to withdraw the Complaint against her
2. Police Prosecutor to immediately take the remaining steps to facilitate her release from Kirikiri Prisons within this week.
3. Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) agreed to lift the life-time flying ban imposed on her after Festus Keyamo's appeal.
The statement part in part:
(a) In the case of the unruly passenger, Ms. Comfort Emmanson, on the Ibom Airline on Sunday, the 10th of August, 2025, I have conferred with Ibom Airline to withdraw the Complaint against her today. When the Police took her Statement in presence of her lawyer, she exhibited great remorse for her conduct.
(b) Subsequent to the withdrawal of the complaint by the Complainant, the CP of Airport Command and the Police Prosecutor will immediately take the remaining steps to facilitate her release from Kirikiri Prisons within this week.
(c) I have also conferred with the leadership of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and have appealed to them to lift the life-time flying ban imposed on her, to which they agreed. The details of the resolution will be made public by the AON subsequently.

KWAM 1 flight ban reduced to 1-month period
Recall that Keyamo announced that Fuji star KWAM 1’s flight ban was cut to one month, with FAAN considering him for an ambassadorial role on airport security protocol.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) will withdraw its criminal complaints against KWAM 1 after he showed public remorse.

Aisha Yesufu faults Ibom Air over passenger’s treatment
In a similar story, Legit.ng reported that human rights activist Aisha Yesufu faulted Ibom Air over the unruly treatment of Emmanson.
Yesufu accused the Nigerian government of practicising two justice systems depending on the social standing in the society.
