Police confirm receipt of NCAA's petition
The police authority confirmed the receipt of the official petition written by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) over the incident. DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the force's public relations officer, in a statement on Tuesday, August 12, confirmed that the incident was reported by the NCAA on August 5, 2025.
Police then assured the public that the force is committed to upholding the safety and security within the aviation sector in Nigeria. The force assured stakeholders in the sector of improved collaboration for security and strict compliance with the aviation rules
Recall that the NCAA earlier said that the fate of the Fuji musician would be determined by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the IGP because the petitions against KWAM 1 have been submitted to them.
NCAA speaks on KWAM 1's apology
Michael Achimugu, the spokesperson of the NCAA, disclosed this in an interview on Saturday, August 9, while speaking on the public apology of the Fuji musician following that controversial face-off with the ValueJet officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
In a statement he personally signed on Friday, August 8, KWAM 1 lamented the situation and described it as "unfortunate", stating that he never had the intention of causing any disruption or violating the protocols of the aviation industry in any way.
The Punch reported that the Fuji musician was about to board the ValueJet flight from Abuja to Lagos when the incident happened.
The musician reportedly attempted to fly with a liquid substance, which was resisted by the aviation security. The ValueJet pilots then got angry and departed for Lagos. The pilots have been suspended for violating aviation protocols, while the musician has been blacklisted.

Privilege shields elites from discipline – Analyst
Lekan Olayiwola, a public-facing policy analyst, has decried the unequal enforcement of aviation rules that often benefit the elite at the expense of ordinary travellers.
The peace and conflict researcher told Legit.ng that:
“Elites often receive leniency, while ordinary passengers are subjected to swift and sometimes humiliating discipline. In Western contexts, celebrities who misbehave on flights are swiftly sanctioned, banned, fined, or publicly reprimanded. In Nigeria, they often become the centre of controversy, sparking debates about impunity and privilege.”
Omokri compares KWAM 1 to Peter Obi
Legit.ng earlier reported that KWAM 1's apology to the officials of the ValueJet following his public altercation was compared and contrasted to that of Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate.
Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, made the dichotomy between the two prominent Nigerians while reacting to the development at the airport.
Omokri then concluded that KWAM 1's apology showed that he is weak like every other human being, unlike Peter Obi.
Editorial assistant Ololade Olatimehin provided exclusive commentary from a policy analyst for this report.
