FCT, Abuja - The 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has condemned the dehumanising treatment meted out to an Ibom Air passenger, Miss Comfort Emmanson.

Obi said there are double standards in the way and manner Miss Emmanson was treated compared to how Fuji musician, Ayinde Wasiu aka KWAM 1, was treated at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

Comfort Emmanson: Professor who watched Ibom Air videos raises 3 deep questions about passenger

The former Anambra state governor stated this via his X handle @PeterObi on Monday, August 11, 2025.

“However, I must equally strongly condemn the dehumanising treatment meted out to this young woman. Stripping her publicly was not only unnecessary but also represents the height of rascality and abuse by our agencies. It is unacceptable that she was hurriedly taken to court and remanded, while someone who visibly held a plane from taking off and put hundreds of lives at risk is still at large, with government agencies and some state officials speaking up for him to be forgiven.
“This case is not just about one young woman; it is about the double standards that poison our justice system. Justice in Nigeria must never be about who is poor or powerless versus who has influence or access to government officials.”

Former cabin crew details correct security protocol

A former flight attendant and customer engagement expert has explained the correct procedure for handling unruly passengers on flights.

“If there is an unruly passenger you call the aviation security and then they come on board,” the expert told Legit.ng anonymously.
“Before they come on board, we will just notice that we are not going to open the aircraft, but we don't keep quiet.”

The expert stressed that the crew must avoid making certain statements mid-flight.

“What you will not do is, you're not going to say, ‘we've called aviation security’ while you're on air.”

According to the expert, announcements are made only after landing, and by the captain:
