FCT, Abuja - The Police Service Commission (PSC) has debunked viral social media reports claiming that recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force for 2025 has started.

In a press statement issued on Sunday, August 3, and signed by the Commission’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC described the information as false, misleading, and the handiwork of fraudsters aiming to deceive unsuspecting applicants.

Ignore fake recruitment adverts, PSC urges Nigerians

The Commission, in the statement via X, strongly advised Nigerians to disregard any recruitment advertisements not officially released through its authorised channels.

“The Commission wishes to state that the stories currently circulating on social media indicating that the exercise has started and inviting applications are misleading and mischievous,” Ani said.

He added,

“The Commission has not commenced this exercise and obviously will follow established procedures and processes when it is ready.”

Fraudsters warned, security agencies alerted

The PSC expressed concern over the recurring attempts by impostors to exploit recruitment periods to defraud the public.

“This consistent attempt to fraudulently confuse the public each time there are preparations for recruitment is unacceptable,” the statement read.

It called on relevant security agencies to track and apprehend the individuals behind the false information to protect the integrity of the police recruitment process.

Reassuring the public, the Commission pledged that when recruitment officially begins, it will be conducted transparently and in line with established guidelines.

“The Commission will continue to ensure that the exercise is transparent and in line with established rules and regulations,” Ani noted.

The PSC also warned the fraudsters to steer clear of its programmes, stating clearly that those found culpable will be identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

36 governors finally endorse state police

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the National Economic Council (NEC) said it has received reports from the 36 state governors on the establishment of the state police.

NEC made this disclosure on Thursday, December 12, after its meeting, which was chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima and attended by state governors, deputy governors, ministers, and some presidential aides.
