Prominent Nigerians visit Buhari's residence

Since the burial of the former president, several prominent Nigerians have visited the residence of the late leader for condolences and offered their prayers to his family. The visit of the Emir was the latest.

Taking to social media, Ahmad wrote:

"The Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, PhD, CON, today visited the family of former President Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna to offer his condolences to the family. The Emir prayed for Allah’s mercy and forgiveness upon the soul of the late President and strength for his family. May Allah (SWT) grant Baba Buhari Al-Jannatul Firdaus. Ameen."

Bashir Ahmad's post raised the question of the real Emir of Kano from some of his followers on X, formerly Twitter, asking the former presidential aide to declare who the real Emir of Kano is.

Why Nigerians speak on Kano Emirship tussle

This question was born out of the controversies surrounding the Emirship tussle in the Emirate. Sanusi, who was earlier deposed, during the administration of the APC, Buhari's party, was reinstated after the party was defeated in the state in the 2023 election.

The reinstatement of Sanuri came after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano deposed Aminu Ado Bayero, who was installed by the APC government. However, Bayero has challenged his removal in court, where it has been ruled that the status quo should be maintained. Both Sanusi and Bayero now laid claims to the throne.

Anifowoshe speaks on criticism of Buhari's burial

Legit.ng earlier reported that the coalition party, ADC, has been cautioned against playing politics beyond national emotions, citing its statement on former President Muhammadu Buhari's burial.

Titilope Anifowoshe, a legal practitioner, gave the warning in an exclusive interview with Legit.ng, following ADC's criticism of President Bola Tinubu's attendance at Buhari's burial.

The ADC had earlier alleged that the president was using Buhari's burial to whitewash himself and seek the emotional support of the electorate.
