A 17-year-old student from Yobe State, Nafisa Abdullah Aminu, has won first place at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals, a prestigious international English language championship held in London, United Kingdom.
Representing Nigeria through the Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), Yobe, Nafisa outclassed over 20,000 students from 69 countries, including those from English-speaking nations.

The global contest assessed a wide range of English language skills—comprehension, writing, grammar, and public communication—making her triumph a significant milestone in global academic competition.
Family expresses joy over feat, thanks government
Her family, expressing overwhelming pride, confirmed the news through a statement issued by the head of the Aminu household, Hassan Salifu.
“Our daughter’s global success would not have been possible without the visionary support for education by His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, whose efforts have brought international honour to our state and nation,” the statement read.
While Nafisa’s personal dedication and intellect were key to her success, her family also pointed to the broader ecosystem of support that made it possible.
They praised the Yobe state government for prioritising education and fostering an environment where students can thrive and gain international recognition.
“Her win has brought immense pride to her family, her school, her state, and the nation at large,” they said.
The Aminu family also thanked the staff and management of NTIC, Yobe, for maintaining high academic standards and mentoring students to compete at a global level. They credited the institution for providing a strong foundation that enabled Nafisa to excel in an elite field of competitors.
