A Nigerian man who once vowed to burn his international passport if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not win the 2023 presidential election has cried out for help, lamenting that life has become unbearable despite his unflinching support during the campaign.
His story was shared by a user, @ChuksEricE, on X (formerly Twitter), accompanied by a video showing the man expressing frustration over his current situation.

In the video, the man recalled how he publicly pledged to destroy his international passport and urged that Nigeria be divided into three parts if Tinubu failed to emerge as president.
He described himself as a passionate supporter who campaigned with his own money, energy and resources.
“I voted for Tinubu. Na me talk say if Tinubu no enter, I go burn my international passport. I no be Nigerian again.
“I even say make dem divide Nigeria, Calabar go their own, Urhobo go, Ijaw go, Ogoja and Benue go their own," he said.
Campaigning cost me money and strength
He revealed that he went as far as inscribing Tinubu’s name on his motorcycle, which he bought with his personal funds, to show loyalty during the elections.
“I use my power, money and effort take campaign and vote for Tinubu.
“See my bike, I write Tinubu’s name on am with my hand, but now I no get money to even buy fuel for the same bike," he lamented.
The man said he had never imagined that he would end up begging to survive, despite his sacrifices for the president.

In a deeply emotional tone, he said he now relies on those who supported Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate in 2023, to survive.
“Even to chop na problem. Na people wey vote Peter Obi I dey beg for money to eat and buy fuel. Dem dey laugh me," he said.
He added that his public declaration of support for Tinubu has now become a source of mockery in his community.
“Dem dey laugh me, Baba. Help us, make dem no laugh me again.”

In a trending video, Fayemi, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stated that many Nigerians are suffering and are unlikely to support Tinubu's government in the next general election.
