Tinubu Warned Against Dropping Shettima, Told What Will Happen
- The APC Youth Parliament (North-East) warns that moves to replace Vice President Shettima ahead of 2027 could trigger deep divisions
- The group says the attacks on Shettima are aimed at weakening President Tinubu’s position
- They pledged continued support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket and urged party members to remain united and resist selfish ambitions
The All Progressives Congress Youth Parliament for the North-East Zone has raised the alarm over rumours suggesting a possible replacement of Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 general election, as they cautioned that such a move could fracture the party’s unity and threaten its electoral chances.
Addressing journalists in Bauchi on Friday, the group’s chairman, Kabiru Kobi, described the speculation as a dangerous distraction that could sow seeds of discord within the APC.

Kobi argued that the Tinubu-Shettima ticket had already proven its strength and credibility, warning that internal plots might play into the hands of political rivals.
“Any attempt to reconfigure the joint ticket of His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima in 2027 will only bring resentment that could linger beyond the elections,” Kobi said.
He added that such resentment could produce “negative reverberations capable of affecting the party’s success.”
Youth leader warns of dire consequences
The youth leader pointed to the fall of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2015 as an example of how internal crises and unchecked ambition can derail even the strongest political movements.
“History has little patience for those who choose to ignore its lessons,” Kobi remarked.
Kobi argued that the recent attacks on Shettima were not merely about the Vice President himself, but were indirect attempts to weaken President Tinubu’s standing.
“What these assailants are trying to achieve by this hypocrisy is to replace Kashim Shettima with someone of a fragile political reputation,” he warned.
He further suggested that Shettima, known for his calm demeanor, would likely urge his supporters to remain peaceful, inadvertently leaving President Tinubu vulnerable to public backlash.
“This is because — in His just nature — God dislikes injustice,” Kobi said.
The group vowed to continue mobilising unwavering support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, describing the pair as “tested and trusted.”

Kobi also called on all party members to set aside personal ambitions and rally behind the leadership to ensure stability ahead of 2027.
Highlighting concerns about rising tensions within the APC, Kobi stressed the urgent need for unity and collaboration among party stakeholders.
He concluded by reaffirming the youth parliament’s trust in President Tinubu’s vision, particularly his resolve to take difficult but necessary economic decisions.
The message from the North-East youth wing was clear: internal conspiracies could cost the APC dearly if not swiftly addressed.
Ex-Buhari minister declares war on Tinubu
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the former minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung, had declared that the 2027 general elections would not just be another electoral cycle but a full-blown confrontation between the Nigerian people and the current administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking during a recent interview on News Central, Dalung voiced strong dissatisfaction with the state of the nation, blaming the Tinubu-led government for deepening the hardship faced by ordinary citizens.
