Governor Sani Finally Reacts to Paying Money to Bandits
- Kaduna Governor Uba Sani has denied the claim that he was planning to negotiate or pay bandits in the state
- Governor Sani explained that the insecurity in the North-West is far different from the ideological Boko Haram operating in the North-East
- The governor explained that he cannot be fighting for justice for the poor and still be sitting with the bandits for negotiation
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna has maintained that there was no way justice can be fought or anybody can fight for the poor and still pay bandits. He added that rather than compensating the perpetrators of the violence, his government decided to support the victims.
The governor made this known while speaking on the Arise Television programme on Thursday, July 31. He explained that the insecurity in the North West region was largely a result of economic factors, which were different from the ideological Boko Haram in the North-East.

He also responded to the allegation that he had been trying to pay or negotiate with bandits, saying such claims were contrary to his long-standing advocacy for justice.
How Sani is fighting insecurity in Kaduna
The governor explained that he and his team had to sit and analyse the rudiments of the crisis and insisted that the insecurity in the North West is largely an economic matter, and this was why he concluded that it cannot be resolved with only a kinetic approach.
Governor Sani explained that when he started the approach, several people said he was trying to pay bandits, but he insisted that he couldn't be fighting for justice for the downtrodden and still sit down with the bandits to pay them.
He disclosed that people were surprised two weeks ago when he started giving houses to the victims of bandits in the state. He said that the approach was better. His statement reads in part:
"I haven’t given one naira to the bandits, but I have built houses for the victims of banditry in Kaduna State.”
Uba Sani speaks on Tinubu's achievement
This came the day after Governor Sani spoke on President Bola Tinubu-led federal government's support for the states, adding that it would be difficult for any Nigerian governor to go against the second-term ambition in the 2027 election.
The governor made this known while speaking at the two-day interactive session on engagement of government-citizen, an event which was organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF) at the Arewa House in Kaduna.
According to Sani, the President Tinubu administration has been talking to non-state actors to address the progress and assess the situation in the northern part of the country. He added that the approach is unprecedented in how national issues are being addressed.

Presidency speaks on Tinubu vs governors
Legit.ng earlier reported that Presidential aide Daniel Bwala says Nigerian governors are enjoying record revenue flows under Tinubu, making salary delays a thing of the past.
Bwala claims state governments now have enough funds to pay wages, invest in projects, and clear debts, describing it as an “oil boom” era.
He also dismissed talk of a major opposition coalition for 2027, insisting the PDP’s main leadership remains united despite some defections.
