Gusau, Zamfara state - Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has appointed Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello as the new Emir and Sarkin Katsina of Gusau Emirate in Zamfara state.
The Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, said Bello’s appointment is based on the traditional recommendation of the Gusau Emirate kingmakers.

As reported by Channels Television, Nakwada said the appointment was in accordance with established customs and relevant laws.
The new Emir ascends the exalted throne as the 16th Emir of the Gusau Emirate Council, following the passing of his father.
The late Emir, His Royal Highness Ibrahim Bello, died on 25th July 2025, after a decade of dedicated and dignified reign.
Legit.ng recalls that Emir Bello died at the age of 71, at a hospital in Abuja, following a protracted illness.
The new Emir is the eldest son of the late monarch and, until his appointment, held the revered traditional title of Bunun Gusau.
Governor Lawal urged the new Emir to uphold the noble legacy of his forefathers, especially as a direct descendant of Malam Sambo Dan Ashafa.
The Governor further called on the Emir to be a beacon of unity, peace, and development.
He urged the monarch to promote harmonious coexistence across the Gusau Emirate and beyond.
Gusau Emir, other monarchs who died in July
Recall that the Emir of Gusau in Zamfara state, Ibrahim Bello, on Friday, July 25, died at the age of 71 after a protracted illness.
The first-class traditional ruler's death followed the demise of two of his colleagues in July 2025.

Bauchi govt names new Emir of Ningi
In a similar story, Legit.ng reported that Haruna Dayaya was appointed as the new Emir of Ningi by the Bauchi State Government, following the approval of Governor Bala Mohammed.
Dayaya, the eldest son of the late Emir Yunusa Danyaya, becomes the 17th Emir of Ningi, succeeding his father, who passed away on August 24, 2024.
The state government expressed confidence in Dayaya’s ability to continue his father’s legacy of fostering unity, peace, and development in the Ningi emirate and Bauchi state.
