The Yoruba Youth Progressive Forum (YYPF) has come out strongly in support of Vice President Kashim Shettima amid growing rumours of an alleged plot to replace him ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
At a press conference held in Lagos, the group praised Shettima’s “unalloyed loyalty” to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing his emergence as Tinubu’s running mate in 2023 as a “critical decision” that strengthened Nigeria’s path to progress.

“Shettima is a pillar of humility, steadfast loyalty, and composure in the face of orchestrated attacks aimed at destabilising this government,” said the YYPF.
Shettima backed Tinubu before 2023, says group
The Forum recalled Shettima’s early support for Tinubu during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primaries, noting that his bold stance in favour of a Southern candidate required “moral courage and a deep commitment to justice.”
“Even before 2023, when others were uncertain, he stood with Tinubu. He defended Tinubu’s credibility with political bravery," the YYPF declared.
They argued that Shettima’s actions placed national interest above regional politics, promoting unity and collaboration across the country, ThisDay reported.
Opposition trying to sow discord, says YYPF
Condemning what they described as “politically engineered fallacies,” the Forum accused opposition forces of trying to sow discord between the President and Vice President.
“We denounce the cheap attempts by some political desperadoes to stir discontent between the presidency and the vice presidency. Such unpatriotic efforts are doomed to fail," the group stated.

They also applauded Shettima’s decision not to publicly respond to these rumours.
“His silence is not weakness, but wisdom. His composure is not detachment, but discipline,” they added.

Highlighting his contributions to the administration, the YYPF described Shettima as a “key strategist” and a “loyal steward” in the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
They noted that his influence spans policy discussions, party coordination, and diplomatic engagement on national security.
“Reports from within the APC and NEC continue to validate his importance in shaping policy and ensuring stability in governance,” the Forum said.
Shettima praised for promoting inclusion and unity
Despite being from the North, the Forum said Shettima has remained committed to inclusive governance, supporting Tinubu’s drive for national unity, Vanguard reported.
“He has proven that politics can be principled. He has risen through the ranks not by betrayal, but by consistency and alignment with progressive ideals," the group noted.
They also dismissed attempts to frame Shettima as divisive, insisting his record reflects a commitment to unity and national development.
YYPF issues warning to detractors
The group warned those spreading malicious claims to desist or risk being exposed.
“Those determined to distort the image of the Vice President are enemies of national progress. They must stop now or face public exposure,” the YYPF stated.
They stressed that their support for Shettima is based on his performance and not ethnic or political bias.
The YYPF urged citizens to rise above ethnic and religious divides and back leaders focused on the nation’s future.
