Dr. Nasir lamented that the ADC, despite lacking a significant political presence or credible policy track record, was resorting to twisting facts about Nigeria's economic reality in a bid to tarnish an administration working to restructure longstanding structural and economic issues.

“The African Democratic Congress is weaponising economic statistics without context. It is shameful that a party with no seat in the National Assembly and no significant policy contributions is attempting to distort public discourse by attacking a reform-minded administration,” Nasir explained.

NDF explains Tinubu's economic reforms

According to the statement, Dr Nasir noted that President Bola Tinubu took over an economy in shambles, with a staggering ₦87.3 trillion public debt, ₦4 trillion in unpaid petrol subsidy debts, a complex multiple exchange rate system that bred profiteering, and inflation soaring at 22.4%."

"To stabilise such an economy without external financing would have meant shutting down capital spending and punishing the poorest Nigerians.

Tinubu chose instead to act. What he has done is take decisive steps to stabilise a broken economy, steps that require both courage and capital,” he stated.

The NDF further highlighted that the loans obtained under President Tinubu's administration are largely tied to specific projects, with transparent terms and conditions, and are often sourced from multilateral institutions with well-defined disbursement frameworks.

The NDF also noted that international organisations like the International Monetary Fund and African Development Bank have praised President Tinubu's government for making tough but necessary economic changes.

The NDF urged Nigerians to be cautious of politicians who pretend to be activists but spread harmful ideas, warning that efforts to erode trust in the economy would ultimately harm everyday citizens.
