David Itopa, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has defended former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over criticisms surrounding a viral video showing him humbly serving food at an event in Imo State.
Speaking with Legit.ng on Sunday, July 13, Itopa dismissed claims that Obi was “overdoing things” ahead of the 2027 election, describing such views as cynical and misplaced.
He said,
“What Nigerians saw in that video is not political theatre, it is passion. Obi has always shown a genuine desire to serve with humility. His act reflects a servant-leader mindset that is rare in our political space.”
