She told Zita:

“I grew up going to both church and mosque. My mum is a Christian and my dad is a Muslim."

According to her, she didn’t just follow the religion of whoever was in charge; she lived both lives. Church on some days, mosque on others.

She experienced the teachings, practices, and values of both faiths. But at a certain point, she made a decision.

She stated.

“I just decided to choose the religion that works best for me, which is Islam.”

Sultana was quick to clarify that her choice was not influenced by pressure from either of her parents.

Zita had asked if her parents were “strict Muslims,” perhaps assuming that Sultana might have been forced into a decision.

She replied calmly:

“No. They both let me be. I made the decision for myself.”
