Afrobeats superstar, Davido, faced an unimaginable tragedy when his three-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, drowned at their Banana Island home in 2022.

He revisited the tragedy in a new interview with ABC News’ Rocsi Diaz.

The singer opened up about how the loss altered not just his life but his perspective on everything, including his career.

The singer stated:

“Stepping away after losing my son and being able to look back into my career gave me a refocus of how I wanted to move going forward. It changed my life"

Legit.ng reported that the music star had his white wedding with Chioma over the weekend in Miami, United States. It had in attendance top dignitaries, including Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, who arrived in time from Iceland, where he had attended another wedding.

The singer admitted that he and his wife, Chioma, didn’t know how they would recover. But they did. And he’s proud of it.

He shared:

“I was telling my wife the other day that I’m proud of how we bounced back. Now, we got twins. They are big and shouting everywhere. For us to be able to go through the loss of our son and be able to bounce back in a major way is huge"

The twins, born a year after Ifeanyi’s passing, have brought joy back into their home.

Davido also shared how people he’s never met have approached him in airports, hotels, and concert venues, thanking him for inspiring them during their own hardships.

He stated:

“I know how many who randomly come to me at the airport to tell me how my strength has inspired them in hard times"

Shade Ladipo reacts to Davido's marital vow

Legit.ng earlier reported that it hasn’t been long since singer Davido and his wife Chioma tied the knot in Miami, but the music star is already making headlines for a vow he made. Before the event, the Unavailable crooner, who has multiple baby mamas, had publicly declared his commitment to remaining faithful to Chioma.
