KWAM 1’s Daughter Fights Back, Challenges FAAN over Airport Saga: “Why Would They Lie?”

  • Singer, KWAM 1's daughter, Basirat Marshal, insisted the controversial flask contained only water, not alcohol
  • In a post on social media, she claimed FAAN and NCAA apologised privately after realising their error
  • She stated that her father reportedly turned down an offer for a private jet after the incident

The daughter of Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has broken her silence over the now-viral Abuja airport drama.

Damilola Marshal, who also serves as the senior special assistant on Tourism to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, took to Instagram to defend her father, insisting he was the victim of false accusations.

Her response comes after the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) accused the 68-year-old Mayegun of Yorubaland of attempting to board a ValueJet flight to Lagos with an alcoholic beverage in his flask, a violation of aviation rules.

K1, through his spokesperson Kunle Rasheed, denied the alcohol claims, calling them “exaggerated and misleading.”

He maintained that the flask contained only water and said that FAAN, NCAA, and ValueJet’s top executives later apologised to him in private after discovering the truth.

As a punitive measure, the NCAA suspended two ValueJet pilots, Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Oloba, in connection with the incident.

“It was just water” - KWAM 1's daughter

In a strongly worded post, Basirat questioned why respected aviation bodies would make such a claim.

She wrote:

“I don’t know why a reputable agency would lie that water is alcohol. I don’t know when K1 became a magician who turns water into alcohol. With the same flask, all of a sudden, everyone is pretending as if they don’t know he carries his water in his flask everywhere.”

Basirat’s statement came after the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) blacklisted the musician for six months, with Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo describing his alleged conduct as “unacceptable” and potentially dangerous.
