Valuejet Drama: Patrick Doyle Gives Reason KWAM 1 Might Not Be at Fault: “He Was Targeted”

Veteran Nollywood actor, Patrick Doyle, has weighed in on the recent controversy involving Fuji music legend, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, and officials of ValueJet at the Abuja airport.
The Fuji maestro was recently involved in a heated face-off with the airline staff after he was reportedly barred from boarding with a flask suspected to contain alcohol.
The incident, which led to KWAM 1 allegedly standing in front of the aircraft in protest, has since sparked public interest.

As a punishment for his action, the Fuji star was barred from flying in Nigeria by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
But Doyle believed there’s more to the story.
Patrick Doyle defends KWAM 1
In a post shared via his social media page, Patrick Doyle said that an incident like that was not uncommon for celebrities, and that KWAM 1 might have walked right into a trap carefully set by the airport staff.
According to him, public figures often enjoy special treatment in many places, but there are occasions when they become targets of staff who bear grudges or hidden resentment.
Using himself as an example, Doyle recalled a frustrating experience he had at the Asaba airport when a check-in attendant refused to let him board with his hand luggage, even though it was just slightly above the weight limit.
“I tried to jokingly cajole her, and rather than give in, she rudely barked at me to respect myself,” he said, noting that her actions were clearly deliberate because she recognised him as a celebrity.
He added that such staff often hope for a public meltdown to strip famous people of their dignity:
“Next thing I know, this service personnel from hell decides to give me a tough time… Then there would be a shouting match, and I would be in breach of airport protocol, and she would have bragging rights that she humiliated that ‘useless’ Patrick Doyle.”
Doyle made it clear that he doesn’t entirely blame KWAM 1 for reacting the way he did. He admitted that even he has lost his temper in similar situations, but age and experience have taught him to pray for patience and self-restraint.
He wrote:
“Kwam 1 was baited by the airline staff, and sadly, they succeeded in riling him. These days, I just pray that God should keep such irritants far away from me… and give me the grace not to fall into their diabolical traps.”

Bolaji opened up on an incident on KWAM 1's health, recalling how a doctor advised the singer to drink water more often.
