Wike’s Aide Dares Charly Boy After Lagos is No Man's Land Comments: “Old Man Wey No Get Sense”
- FCT minister’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, fired back after Charly Boy’s controversial “no man’s land” comment
- The singer had kicked against the renaming of a Lagos bus stop from his name to Olamide Baddo
- Olayinka dared Charly Boy to contest for the Oba of Lagos and other traditional stools if Lagos truly belongs to no one
Veteran entertainer and activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has once again found himself at the center of controversy, this time over comments he made about Lagos being “no man’s land.”
The remark came after the Bariga Local Council Development Area renamed the popular Charly Boy Bus Stop to ‘Olamide Baddo’ in honour of hip-hop star Olamide Adedeji.
The social crusader, clearly displeased with the change, likened Lagos to New York City, arguing that the commercial hub should belong to everyone and not be tied to any tribe.

But that didn’t sit well with Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Olayinka not only dismissed Charly Boy’s claim but threw a daring challenge at him.
He wrote:
“Ndi Lagos is no man’s land. When next the seat of Oba of Lagos becomes vacant after the present Oba must have lived long enough, go and contest for it."
Olayinka didn’t stop there. He listed several traditional stools across Lagos, from Osolo of Isolo to Oniru, Elegushi, and Oloto, taunting the singer to try vying for any of them if he truly believed the state wasn’t owned by anyone.
He added sarcastically, in a post many online users described as a direct and blistering shut-down.
“Sebi all these Traditional Titles are in your language, not Yoruba"

"The funny thing is, you’re not even from Lagos. Real indigenous Lagosians wouldn’t be online fighting tooth and nail over a meaningless phrase. But this noisemaker from Ekiti, who decided to become an online puppet for his little political god, continues to be a disgrace to his."
@AdekunleAdelaj1:
"Legacy indeed. He's only tarnishing the image of so many respectable people from his extraction. I don't think he represents them with this. If I am wrong I need someone from there to tell me that's the way. He's just notorious on his own."

Charly Boy shares backstory behind bus stop's name
Legit.ng earlier reported that Charly Boy offered a backstory to how the Charly Boy Bus Stop in Lagos got its name in the first place.
In an interview on The Morning Brief on Channels TV, the 74-year-old said the bus stop wasn’t named after him by politicians or celebrities, but by the people who felt the impact of his presence in Gbagada during the early 90s.
He said military officers, pensioners, okada riders, and even students all benefited from his generosity during his time in the area.
