The recent wave of street and bus stop renamings in the Bariga area of Lagos has continued to draw reactions online, with a trending video showing a bus conductor calling Baddo bus stop by its old name.
Legit.ng recalls reporting that Kolade David, the outgoing chairman of the Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA), announced the renaming of several streets, road and bus stop, to honour individuals who have contributed to the area’s identity and reputation.

According to Bariga LCDA's announcement, Charly Boy Bus Stop was renamed Baddo Bus Stop in honour of Olamide ‘Baddo’ Adedeji. Others who were also honoured included King Sunny Ade, 9ice, Tony Tetuila, and Arsenal star Bukayo Saka.
However, the renaming of Charly Bus Stop to Baddo Bus Stop has generated the most reactions online.

On Sunday, July 26, Charles Oputa, better known as Charly Boy, criticised the decision, suggesting it was an attempt to erase his long history of advocacy and resistance to government oppression.

After the renaming of Charly Boy bus stop, a video showing a conductor referring to the landmark by its old name has gained attention on social media.
The clip also captured the moment a curious passenger asked the conductor who appeared to be unaware of the changes.
"Charly Boy wa o," the bus conductor said in the video.

VDM reacts to bus stop name change
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Verydarkman reacted to the change in the name of one of the popular bus stops in Lagos state.
VDM stated that tribalism is one of the important tools politicians use during elections. He suggested that with the renaming of the bus stop, the government was instigating the Yorubas against the Igbos.
