VDM Blasts Soso Soberekon Over N120M Proposal for Duel With Portable: "I Was to Fight 50 Cent"

  • Nigerian activist VeryDarkMan fired back at music executive Soso Soberekon over a N120 million boxing match proposal involving him and Portable
  • In a video on Instagram, VDM deemed the offer insulting, citing his past negotiations for high-profile fights with 50 Cent and Roy Jones Jr., where figures as high as $5 million were involved
  • VDM warned Soberekon not to use his name for cheap stunts unless he's ready to meet serious financial terms close to $1 million

Nigerian activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has responded strongly to music executive Soso Soberekon after the latter proposed a N120 million boxing match between him and controversial artist Portable.

The proposal from Soberekon came amid an ongoing social media clash between VeryDarkMan and Portable, but VDM did not take the offer lightly.

VDM was to fight 50 Cent

VDM revealed that in 2024, he had been in serious talks for a boxing match against American rapper 50 Cent, a stunt that would have seen the rapper pocket $5 million. According to him, 50 Cent requested $2 million upfront, while the organisers offered him just $100,000, a payment he outrightly rejected.

VeryDarkMan stated that he demanded at least $1 million to match the scale and importance of the fight.

He also claimed another fight with boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. was proposed, but again, the financial terms were not satisfactory.

These experiences, he argued, have given him a clear sense of his worth and why he would never accept a mere N120 million for a fight as proposed by Soso Soberekon.

He emphasised that putting him in a boxing ring would generate massive viewership and revenue, and should be priced accordingly.

He ridiculed Soso’s offer, saying even N100 million couldn't buy a decent house in Abuja. To consider such a proposal, he said Soso would pay him N500K, then if he accepts, the music executive would have to sell his luxury cars to gather funds of almost $1 million.

VDM noted that Soso would have to sell his valuable properties to make the boxing match a reality, as he is sure that he doesn't have up to $1 million in cash for the project.

VeryDarkMan insisted that the offer was not a joke but a clear attempt to belittle him.

He warned Soso never to attach his name to such proposals again unless he was ready to meet his financial demands or face his wrath.
