Yaba, Lagos state - The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Friday, August 8, released the reviewed 2025 West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE) results.

The revised results recorded an increase in the number of candidates who secured a minimum of five credits in subjects including English language and mathematics.

As reported by Daily Trust, the Head of Nigeria’s Office (HNO) of WAEC, Amos Dangut, made this known while briefing newsmen in Lagos.

Dangut said the reviewed results showed that 123, 9884 representing 62.9 per cent obtained credits and above in five subjects in a minimum of five subjects.

He apologised for the errors while he urged candidates to check their 2025 WASSCE results 48 hours later.

According to Vanguard, Dangut announced the accurate results obtained by candidates during the 2025 WASSCE.

1,239,884 candidates, representing 62.96%, obtained credits and above in a minimum of five (5) subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
“Of this number, 582,065, representing 46.95%, were male candidates, while 657,819, representing 53.05%, were female candidates."

He further stated that:

“Gentlemen of the Media, as the reviewed results of the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2025, are being uploaded on the results website, candidates should, after checking the result online, apply for their digital certificate, which will be released forty-eight (48) hours thereafter. Candidates who have fulfilled their financial obligations to the Council can access their results on the Council’s results website, www.waecdirect.org, within the next twelve hours. Copies of the new result listing will be sent to schools shortly."

WAEC admits "technical Issue" amid mass failure criticism

Legit.ng earlier reported that WAEC informed the general public of technical issues about the 2025 WASSCE results.

WAEC said technical issues were discovered during the internal review of the recently released results.

The examination body apologised to affected students and advised candidates who have previously checked their results to re-check in the next 24 hours.
