Jubilation as Nigerian Governor Increases Corps Members’ Allowance to N30,000

Fintiri made this known on Friday, August 1, during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Damare, Girei local government area.

Clad in full NYSC regalia, the governor Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth development and the welfare of corps members posted to the state.

“As a government, we are committed to improving the welfare of corps members. This increment aligns with our promise to create a friendly and supportive atmosphere for you,” the governor said.

Fintiri promises new NYSC camp

As reported by Leadership, Fintiri also revealed that preparations have reached an advanced stage for constructing a new NYSC camp in the state.

Akwa Ibom gov changes corps member allowance

Similarly, Legit.ng earlier reported that Governor Umo Eno approved an increase in corps members’ monthly state allowance in Akwa Ibom from N5,000 to N20,000.

The new allowance takes effect from 1st August 2025 and is meant to complement the federal government’s proposed ₦77,000 monthly stipend.

Eno reaffirmed his commitment to corps members’ welfare, highlighting recent projects like the reconstruction of the NYSC orientation camp in the state.

FG pays N44,000 arrears to ex-corps members

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the federal government approved the payment of N44,000 minimum wage arrears to former members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Former corps members took to social media to confirm receipt of the payment as FG fulfilled its promise made following the recent upward review of corps members' monthly allowance from N33,000 to N77,000.

This payment specifically applies to those who completed their one-year service before the new allowance structure came into effect earlier in the year.

Tinubu orders employment for 200 corps members

In another development, Legit.ng reported that President Bola Tinubu offered immediate employment to 200 NYSC members for their outstanding service year.

The president also announced immediate employment for 10 physically challenged persons who sustained several injuries during their service years.

The honourees included corp members who served between 2020-2023 service years and were also offered a cash gift of N250,000 each.
