The distribution business (DisCo) stated in a notification on Monday that the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) was performing planned maintenance, which is the reason for the supply interruption.

According to the IBEDC, the Omotosho-Ikeja West 330kV transmission line will undergo planned maintenance from July 28 to August 21 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm every day.

“As a result, customers in Ogun State, except those in Ijebu Ode, Sagamu Town, and Ogunmakin, will be experiencing a planned outage during this period,” the DisCo said.
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.”

The Ikeja and Eko Electricity Distribution Companies (IKEDC and EKEDC) declared on July 25 that, due to TCN's maintenance, customers in their network areas would encounter load shedding and erratic power supplies.

The DisCos apologised for any inconvenience caused and stated that the disruption was required to enable the safe completion of power line maintenance.

Legit.ng reported that Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has announced a planned power outage that will affect several areas under its coverage for 25 days.

The company explained that the service disruption is due to maintenance work by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

In a public notice issued on Friday, July 25, EKEDC said that the disruption will begin on Monday, July 28, and will to Thursday, August 21, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm daily.

The company said the outage is necessary to allow the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to carry out essential maintenance work on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line, a critical infrastructural element in the national power grid.

The company noted that the repair works would cause intermittent power supply and load shedding across its network during the period.

While EKEDC did not list all affected locations in the notice, it confirmed the impact would be felt across its entire distribution area.

FG finally restructures electricity industry

Legit.ng reported that the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has been split up into two companies, marking a major step in the Nigerian government's efforts to modernise the nation's electrical industry.

The board and management of the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) were officially inaugurated by the government.

In April 2004, the TCN, which oversees the country's electrical transmission network, was one of 18 businesses that were separated from the now-defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN). It received a transmission license a year after being incorporated in November 2005.
